Clown fish died. ph is 7.9. Could this be why? | Reef2Reef
Dec 9, 2019 · I havnt been running my light until recently. BRS said keep it off first few months of a new tank. I suppose to avoid algae. My ph is usually 7.8 7.9. I have read clown fish should have 8.0 or higher. I have also read that many people have had clownfish for years with ph of 7.8 and levels slightly below 8.

BTW, your LFS might tell you that if you stick two clowns together, one will become the female and dominate the other and it will be come the male. While that might happen, it is entirely more likely that one will kill the other.

Dec 13, 2011 · It was hard to let go of my first fish haha. Pickle010 said: You can try floating the clown fish in clear container in the tank - keep it there a week and let it go again. If it attacks the other fish put it back in and try again in 3 - 6 days. Repeat as often as needed.

I went out of town for the weekend and when I came back the top part of him is dark brown/black. Its not even though, it seems to fade off as it goes down.

Dec 6, 2006 · 2 clowns are just fine, that is not overkill/bio-overload or cruel for 24g. Just make sure you do your 20% or so water change each week n' you be in tip-top-shape. Good luck. 2 6-inch fish in an aquarium that's only a foot and a half in either direction, which is also blocked up by live rock sounds pretty cruel to me.
