Dec 21, 2020 · Have an older harbor freight hoist, best one at the time. Worked fine for years, my dad left a 409 hanging on it for over a month and the ram was shot. Probably could have rebuilt the ram, but replaced it with a slower unit with more lifting power, slow and steady is OK with me.

I also have a piece of 1/4" thick square tubing that'll slide right into the HF boom, I can extend it a couple of feet if needed. Sure makes getting the bed off of a truck a true one-man job.

Nov 9, 2012 · I would suggest taking a trip to Harbor freight, and take pics of their hoist. I'll try to remember to get pics of my Goodyear hoist, and maybe others can snap pics of theirs. With enough pics, you should be able to devise a plan, and figure out the best places to reinforce the tubing, to hold up to the folding, and pin stress.

I used it early in the year to move a 1-ton lathe, no problems at all. Last week I was moving a 200 pound grinder and I noticed that it was very slowly lowering itself as if I had let off the pressure.

Apr 18, 2022 · I want to take the 327 out, take off all the original 302 parts, and send them and the 302 to the machine shop. The m21 needs some work so now is a good time to pull it as well. I bought a 1 ton folding engine hoist from harbor freight assuming it would work, as well as a engine leveler, and tried to do a "dry run" to make sure it set into place.

Dec 21, 2020 · Bought my HF fold-up hoist over 25 years ago and have pulled & installed dozens of engine of my own & friends cars, as well as lifting bodies on & off at least five cars and a truck I can think of, without any attention at all. Doesn't owe me a penny.

Sep 3, 2006 · Bought one that looks very similar to the Harbor Freight hoist at "Retool". They sell used tools but also carry some new stuff. Engine hoist was new, folds like the one pictured by chop49. Works good, only thing I'll probably change is to put non-swiveling casters on the back.
