German and Kenyan officials have signed an agreement to promote the recruitment of skilled Kenyan workers who can fill gaps in Germany’s labor market, and to facilitate the repatriation of Kenyans who don’t have the right to stay in Germany.

Germany and Kenya on Friday signed a migration deal during a visit by Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto to Berlin amid growing efforts there to curb the number of unauthorized entries to the country.

Kenya and Germany also agreed to combat forced labour, and human trafficking and facilitate the safe return of nationals of either party residing in the territory of the other, who do not, or no longer, fulfill the conditions for entry into the territory of the other.
