The Reds traded Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer to the Royals in exchange for starting pitcher Brady Singer on Friday night. India won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2021 and had become a fan favorite during his four seasons with the club.

The Reds are content with their half of this trade, of course. Both players are under team control for two more seasons. India will almost certainly make a bit less than Singer, who is arbitration eligible once more.

The Royals have been clear that their priority this offseason was focusing on upgrading the offense, and their first big move to do so came on Friday when they acquired second baseman Jonathan India and outfielder Joey Wiemer from the Reds.
