DENVER, Colo. (KAKE) — Interstate 70 in both directions is closed from Denver as a winter storm warning with heavy snow hits eastern Colorado and western Kansas on Thursday. ABC affiliate KMGH Denver 7 reports that forecasters say up to ten more inches of heavy, wet snow is possible for the Denver metro area throughout Friday and into the weekend.

Denver Public Schools, Jeffco Public Schools and Douglas County School District are among the larger school districts to cancel school on Friday due to a winter storm descending on Colorado.

Some parts of the Denver area could get up to four inches of snow, while other parts of Colorado could get up to a foot.

Parts of Interstate 70 and other roadways were shut down Wednesday due to a winter storm blanketing northern Colorado in snow.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 70 west of Goodland to Limon, Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation says eastbound I-70 is closed from Limon to Burlington.
