The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reporting a slight increase in the number of hunters out this gun deer season as compared to last year, and a slight decrease in deer registered during opening weekend.
Wisconsin Deer Hunt: opening weekend statistics
In total, hunters registered 89,203 deer statewide during the opening weekend of the 2024 gun deer hunt, compared to 90,831 registered for the same period in 2023. This is a 1.8% decrease from a year ago and 4.7% below the 5-year average.
