Portsmouth say postponing their Championship match with Millwall was the only logical decision after a power cut at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth’s Championship clash with Millwall was postponed after Fratton Park was plunged into darkness for 40 minutes. Just 11 minutes before the scheduled 7.45pm kick-off all the lights went out at the south coast ground and did not return until 8.

A mains supply issue at Fratton Park 10 minutes before the scheduled 7.45pm start time led to the clash to be called off. A statement from the club read: ‘ Tonight’s match against Millwall has been postponed for safety reasons due circumstances beyond the club’s control.
