Earth Is Temporarily Getting a Second ‘Moon’
Sadly, at just about 10 meters, the mini-moon will be extremely hard to see from Earth, but its presence will be there nonetheless for almost two months. The asteroid, which was discovered on Aug. 7 by NASA, originated from the Arjuna asteroid belt, where it will likely return once it leaves Earth’s orbit.
Earth will soon have a temporary second moon
Earth will soon have two moons, but not for long. According to a study published in the journal Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society (AAS), the “moon” in question is a celestial body known as 2024 PT5 that is believed to be an Arjuna asteroid.

The asteroid, named 2024 PT5, will do a 56-day horseshoe-shaped fly-by near Earth before it continues on it journey.
