The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is monitoring closely the Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island due to its continuous and elevated sulfur dioxide emission.

The summit crater of the Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Occidental emitted ash anew on Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. In a time-lapse footage recorded by the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory,

Kanlaon Volcano emitted ash on Monday morning, November 11, according to Phivolcs, marking the 20th ash event since November 1.

Residents in villages near the foot of Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Occidental have been advised to wear masks as protection from the continuing ash emissions. On Tues

Kanlaon emitted 6,432 tons of sulfur dioxide flux, based on monitoring records. The continuous degassing sent a 500-meter tall plume with occasional ash emission that drifted to the west and southwest side of the volcano.
