The Golden State Warriors are expected to revisit trading for a star-level player around next season’s trade deadline after failing to acquire an establish second option for Steph Curry this offseason.

Golden State is likely to be active on the market until then, and one player of specific intrigue is forward Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat. Butler is entering the second season of his three-year, $146 million deal in Miami but can opt out next summer via a player option.

Since losing Klay Thompson earlier this summer, the Golden State Warriors have been chasing a second star to pair with Steph Curry. They already missed out on Paul George and Lauri Markkanen to begin the summer. As such, they're expected to remain active in the trade market leading up to the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
