Xbox is reintroducing a highly requested feature that has been missing since the Xbox 360 era. After over a decade, the familiar two-way friend request system is making a comeback. This change is set to enhance the social experience on Xbox by allowing users to send, accept, and manage friend requests more intuitively with familiarity.

The long-requested feature will be will be accessible to Xbox Insiders starting this week, as well as those who have joined the PC Gaming preview on Windows PC and handheld devices like the ROG Ally.

Microsoft has announced plans to bring back friend requests on Xbox. The feature was last used during the Xbox 360 generation, before being replaced with a social-media-style follower system when Xbox One launched in 2013.
