Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, both NASA astronauts, have been stuck at the International Space Station for more than six months due to a Starliner spacecraft malfunction. They are set to return to Earth in February 2025.

After opening the Progress spacecraft's hatch, the Roscosmos cosmonauts noticed an unexpected odour and observed small droplets.

The space station's current crew includes Roscosmos' Aleksandr Gorbunov, Ivan Vagner and Alexey Ovchinin, and Nasa's Pettit, Nick Hague, as well as Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore.

A Russian supply ship brought food and equipment to the International Space Station. Cosmonauts detected a strange smell. They closed a hatch and turned on air purifiers. The odor went away quickly. The crew accessed the supplies.

The strange odour was detected shortly after the docking of the spacecraft at the Poisk Module of the ISS. When the hatch was opened, cosmonauts noticed the unusual smell and small droplets, raising a
