A more senior junior doctor will see their salary increase by £12,027, taking their pay to £70,425. By contrast, junior nursing colleagues, who engaged in half as many strike days, have seen their pay rise by around 11pc to £29,969 over the same period. An experienced nurse will have seen a 15pc rise to £46,148.

Victoria Atkins said she was "pleased for the sake of patients" but said the deal would not prevent more strikes.
