The Federal Aviation Administration has banned flights to-and-from Haiti for at least 30 days after JetBlue and Spirit Airlines planes were hit by gunfire Monday during attempts to land in Port-au-Prince.

Airlines have suspended operations to Haiti after Spirit and JetBlue airplanes were struck by gunfire. The State Department warned Americans not to travel to the country.

JetBlue and Spirit said their planes appeared to have been struck by gunfire after traveling through the country.
