It came as no surprise when Rhasidat Adeleke was crowned the 2024 Athlete of the Year at the National Athletics Awards which took place in Dublin on Wednesday night. It has been a monumental year for the Tallaght AC sprinter which has seen her set Irish records over a variety of distances both indoors and out.

Rhasidat Adeleke has won the Athlete of the Year gong at the 123.ie National Athletics Awards which were held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry on.

Ciara Mageean took the Middle Distance Athlete of the Year while Fionnuala McCormack took the Endurance Athlete of the Year award.

The Tallaght sprint star came so close to Olympic glory in Paris but had a stellar 2024, while Ciara Mageean and Fionnuala McCormack are among those also celebrated

Adeleke was named Athlete of the Year and Sprints & Hurdles Athlete of the Year, and also won the Team of the Year prize with the women’s 4x400m relay.
