A Louisville Metro Police Department officer who was shot during the 2020 protests is suing the department on issues of race, ethnicity and disability, according to court documents.

Louisville Metro Police Officer Robinson Desroches has filed a lawsuit claiming he was discriminated against after expressing his belief that the department lied to the public about Taylor’s death.

The Louisville Metro Police Department said around 8:30 p.m., Officer Laxman Acharya and Officer Brendan Koerner stopped 19-year-old Jeremiah Thompson during a traffic stop. According to police, Thompson admitted to driving an SUV that was reported stolen two days prior, but when the officers tried to detain him, he allegedly resisted arrest.
