Austin Mayor Kirk Watson is on track to win his reelection bid outright but the race is so close that even a few thousand yet-to-be-counted ballots could change the outcome. A more complete vote tally isn't expected for at least another week.

With five candidates on the ballot, it takes at least a 50% vote total for a single candidate to not require a runoff.
