DENVER, Colo. (KAKE) — Interstate 70 in both directions is closed from Denver as a winter storm warning with heavy snow hits eastern Colorado and western Kansas on Thursday. ABC affiliate KMGH Denver 7 reports that forecasters say up to ten more inches of heavy, wet snow is possible for the Denver metro area throughout Friday and into the weekend.

Several feet of snow were expected to fall in parts of New Mexico and Colorado over the next three days in what meteorologists said could be the worst blizzard to hit the region in decades, as the authorities warned of dangerous road conditions and power outages.
