This summer on Cape Cod has been a record breaking one for the International Fund for Animal Welfare which oversees the rescue of stranded dolphins, including 11 bottlenose dolphins first discovered in muddy flats in Brewster Monday,

Dolphins stranded twice in as many days on Cape Cod. Rescuers say this summer has seen more than double the average number of dolphin strandings.

Marine rescuers from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) said this is the largest bottlenose dolphin mass stranding seen in the Northeast. When rescuers arrived, three of the dolphins were dead, but efforts to save the remaining 11 continued in to Tuesday morning.
