Brits are set for heavy rain, winds, hailstone and lightning as storms batter the country this weekend and maps show the worst areas affected with Met Office warnings in place

After this week's warm weather, thunderstorms and lightning are set to batter parts of the UK, according to the Met Office.

Large parts of England and Wales are braced for gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning from midday - as thunderstorm warnings come into effect.

The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms for Friday and Saturday and said lightning and heavy rain should be expected.
