Samsung has recalled hundreds of thousands of electric ranges used for stovetops in Canada because they're a fire hazard.

Samsung is recalling more than 1.12 million electric ranges used for stovetops after reports of 250 fires and dozens of injuries.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the stoves have been involved in approximately 250 fires since 2013, and at least 18 fires caused extensive property damage.

A series of Samsung slide-In electric ranges has been recalled due to a fire hazard. The issue is that the front-mounted knobs on the stove are so sensitive that people and even pets can “accidentally activate” them by bumping into them, posing a fire hazard if flammable objects have been left on top of the range.

More than 300,000 Samsung electric oven ranges have been recalled in Canada due to being a potential fire hazard.

The agency waned that humans, particularly small children, and pets can accidentally activate the front-mounted knobs posing a fire risk.
