Worcester city manager salary will top $300K
Worcester City Council mulling salary hike for city manager that would pay him over $300,000 in 2025
Worcester City Manager Eric D. Batista, stands to earn a base salary of more than $300,000 next year if the City Council approves his new contract in December, according to records and officials.
Worcester's city manager could soon make over $300,000 a year. Some residents aren't happy about it.
In addition to the annual salary increases, the new contract stipulates that Batista will always make $10,000 more than the next highest paid official in Worcester. Last year, that was Worcester Public School Superintendent Rachel Monárrez, who made $268,754.
Council vote nears: New contract would put Worcester City Manager Eric Batista above $300K
The Standing Committee on Municipal and Legislative Operations negotiated the proposed contract during sessions Oct. 24 and Nov. 13. The committee recommended adoption of an order to reappoint Batista that authorizes Mayor Joseph M. Petty to execute an employment agreement under the negotiated terms.

WORCESTER — The proposed terms of City Manager Eric D. Batista's new three-year contract come with a pay bump. If the contract were to go into effect, Batista's starting salary would increase 3.7% to $293,868, starting Dec. 31. He would then get a 3.9% raise to $305,223 starting July 1, 2025, and a 2.9% raise to $314,080 starting July 1, 2026.
