A California man is facing federal charges after he allegedly tried to choke a flight attendant and “said he was going to kill everybody” while on board a Frontier Airlines flight to San Francisco that had to be diverted on Monday,

Charles Salva, of Fremont, was on a Frontier Airlines flight from Orange County to San Francisco when, authorities say, he began yelling obscenities at flight attendants.

A Bay Area man faces 20 years in prison if convicted of interference with flight crew members following a flight to San Francisco International Airport on Monday during which he allegedly tampered with the aircraft’s overhead oxygen mask compartment and then assaulted the flight’s crew.
