Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve left Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics early, and now he is missing from the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale.

Jose Altuve returned to the Houston Astros’ lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Los Angeles Angels after missing just one full game due to right side discomfort. Altuve exited Wednesday’s game after he “felt something” in his side on a swing in the fifth inning,

Last season, Altuve missed time with oblique issues on both sides of his body. Soreness in his right oblique cost him four games from June 3-6, 2023. That July, Altuve spent 18 days on the injured list with what the Astros described as left oblique discomfort he experienced while taking a swing in pregame batting practice.
