The earliest Category 5 Atlantic hurricane in history, the storm killed at least seven people in the Windward Islands before skirting south of Jamaica, shutting down communications, stranding tourists and delivering storm surge and flooding rain to the island.

The National Hurricane Center warned of a 'life-threatening storm surge' as Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas in the early hours of Monday, July 8

Hurricane Beryl pummeled the Texas coastline as a Category 1 storm on Monday, bringing with it life-threatening winds and and major power outages. Wind speeds were reported as high as 80 mph and flood warnings were issued across several areas of the Texas coast.
