ISKCON monk Chinmoy was reportedly held in Bangladesh for alleged sedition, during his rallies in Chattaogram and Rangpur. He was arrested from the Dhaka International Airport by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Police.

Das was denied bail by a Bangladeshi court and sent to prison, triggering protests by Hindus in various locations. A lawyer was killed and several others were injured during clashes.

The Iskcon has urged the Indian government to take immediate steps and engage with Bangladesh for the release of their prominent priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was detained in Bangladesh on Monday
