Tesla Superchargers are about to get a lot busier as GM EVs are gaining access to them. Customers must buy a $225 adapter and use their app to initiate and pay for charging. GM has already confirmed that native NACS ports are coming next year.

This is a huge step that will help all GM EV owners. GM announced that the $225 adapters will give owners access to the Tesla network of nearly 18,000 superchargers.

General Motors’ electric vehicles (EVs) are now able to access over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers using an NACS DC adapter. The move will help improve options for EV charging in North America for current and future EV drivers.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) shares are trading higher on Wednesday. Starting today, the company will provide its customers access to over 17,800 Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) Superchargers using a GM-approved NACS DC adapter.

The NACS DC adapter aims to create more fast and convenient charging options for current and future EV drivers. With this, GM EV drivers can access more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers in North America. The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported.

GM will offer the NACS adapters for $225 through its vehicle brand mobile apps, which can also be used to locate charging stations and pay for charging sessions. They will initially be made available in the United States Wednesday, followed by Canada later this year.

General Motors is only the third company to get access to Tesla's vast Supercharger network as a flood of announcements gave way to slow adoption.
