Hoping to spark higher EV sales, General Motors Co. is offering owners adapters to access the Tesla Supercharger network.

General Motors Co. said Wednesday it will offer access to more than 17,800 Tesla Inc. superchargers through a $225 NACS DC adapter that it has approved for use with its electric vehicles (EVs). The move is part of an effort by the auto giant to provide access to more than 231,

General Motors (NYSE:GM) opened up access to more than 17,800 Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) Superchargers for its customers, with the use of a company-approved NACS DC adapter. The move is seen as helping to accelerate fast and convenient charging options for current and future EV drivers.

General Motors is now offering adapters to help its electric vehicle owners access Tesla chargers. The Detroit automaker said Wednesday that it is opening up access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers for its customers,

General Motors is only the third company to get access to Tesla's vast Supercharger network as a flood of announcements gave way to slow adoption.

After a delay of several months, General Motors said owners of its battery-powered models would now be able to use Tesla charging stations with adapters.

GM electric vehicles weren’t compatible with Tesla Superchargers, as they were outfitted with a different proprietary charging port. Those who own these EVs can purchase an adapter for $225 using your vehicle brand’s mobile app.

People who drive electric Chevys, Cadillacs, and GMCs will now be able to plug in at Tesla’s chargers using adapters — but they’ll have to pay for them.
