Beautiful. People jogging, surfing, picnicking, even fishing. A little rough waters at times. Parking is a little difficult. Full review by jbE5606YA

We were closer to the Tammarack area of this long stretch of beach. There is paid parking so you can walk to the beach easily. The beach was almost empty. Sadly there was a lot of trash on the shore … Full review by vickytravels2024
I am traveling to Legoland with a 7 year old. We are thinking of taking the train one day to Sea World. Does anyone know about how far the train stop is from Sea World, is it walkable with a child?

Hi, I am a Carlsbad resident and my husband is 98 years old. We like to park near the Best Western and walk the sidewalk above the beach. There is also a sidewalk down close to the sand, with a sloping asphalt path down to it. Up until about 2 years ago, we walked there, as it is easier to hear the waves and watch ground squirrels. However, the sidewalk is easy and relatively flat. Most of Carlsbad is flat and walkable, including with a walker or cane. We often also walk above the flower fields, even when they are not in bloom. This gives a different view of the ocean. To get there, drive south on the Coast Hwy to Cannon Rd or Palomar Airport Road and turn left. On Cannon, you would turn right onto Legoland Drive and then keep right on Armada rather than continuing to Legoland. Park anywhere along the road there and walk. Also, the Gemological Institute of American allows people to visit the museum part of the Institute, with AT LEAST ONE DAY's notice. Look it up on line and contact them with the day you would like to come. I think the hours for guests are 1 - 3:30 pm, M-Thurs. This is fascinating if you are at all interested in gems, rocks, petrified wood, etc. If you turn on Palomar Airport Rd, you'd go to the traffic signal past Costco (on the right) and turn left onto Armada.
