Marion, Old Fort water may run out after storm Helene
WEBSep 28, 2024 · Marion’s water supply is expected to be depleted by noon Sunday, and Old Fort has limited to not water as of Saturday evening. Marion’s water intakes are without power or are not producing water, according to a news release from McDowell County Emergency Management.
Old Fort's new mayor is former Montreat town administrator
WEBOld Fort has a new mayor and her selection is historic. Pam Snypes raised her hand on Aug. 26 and took the oath of office, becoming the first woman to hold the office of mayor in Old Fort and likely McDowell County. No records list a female as ever holding the mayor’s post in either Marion or Old Fort until now.
